Science Fair: Feminist Configurations in Cyberspace is a web artwork that investigates the role of women scientists and inventors since 4000 BC and features original projects by 8 women artists dealing with issues of women and technology. The artists utilized a variety of web technologies to elaborate on themes concerned with science and technology, paying specific attention to the role that women have historically played within these areas.
Science Fair: Feminist Configurations in Cyberspace includes an illustrated timeline that highlights scientific and technological developments from 4000 BC continuing up to today. The site focuses on five main categories: Agriculture, Medicine, Reproductive Technologies, Tools and Machinery, and Computer Related Technologies. Images representing significant innovations in the history of science and technology are placed chronologically along a time line. Contributions include images and text describing innovations and a short biography of the woman involved. Contributions made by women to the history of science and technology were taken, in part, from the 150,000 patented inventions made by women since the 18th century.
